Technological Feasibility.

The critical parameters for the success of the project is to be analyzed.   
Availability of suitable Technology. There are many venders supplying the Technology. The suitability of the process should be assessed in light of ground realities. It should be capable of handling the Garbage. The garbage will have the many components other than the Carbonaceous materials which will hinder the efficient operation of the Gasifier. The unwanted materials are excess water, extraneous matween the existing and proposed systems), and Fixed Costs ( Interest , Depreciation, Insurance, Overheads and Administrative expenses).

Sensitivity analysis   
Project cost, The cost of Labor, cost of Power and utilities , Transport cost differential, Interest, Depreciation and Insurance cost are needed for this analysis.
Financial Planning
  
Revenue generation (Contribution from the power generated, sales value of recovered items like Metals, Plastics, Glass etc, Tax levied on the public , Carbon Credit available from Government funding) is to be worked.
Environment Impact And Carbon Credit .
   
This process is eco friendly as against the present method of disposing as land fill. In land fills, significant quantum of Methane is generated. Carbon credit for Methane is 20 times greater than that of CO2. An estimation may be prepared and added in the Report.

The Gaseous, Liquid and Solid emissions of this process is to be assessed. The occupational hazards has to be assessed and means of mitigation is to be ensured. Environmental monitoring is to be implemented.

This project is an improvement upon the previous system of disposal and hence the necessary clearances will be released. How ever the advantages will be documented in this Report for the scrutiny of the Agencies involved.

Preparing Project Reports, Financial Reports and Feasibility Reports are very crucial for initiating Projects. These should cover extensively all the relevent aspects involved in the project. This should give clear insight of the project so that the higher management is made well aware of the Project. So a State of Art method of disposal is to be adopted.

1) Converting the garbage as a compost Occupational hazards, non availability of workmen and low marketability for the compost.
2). Incineration.  The incineration is not eco friendly, energy intensive and  uneconomic
3). Gasification coupled with Power generation. The third option is selected for the reasons of sustainability.

The unwanted materials areterials like Metals, Plastics, Glass, discarded house hold gadgets etc. Plastics should be totally removed as other wise Toxic gases will be emanated from the Gasifier.  The selected Process should have inbuilt mechanisms to segregate these items and  pre dry the garbage to the required dryness. The process should have inbuilt Gas cleaning system to clean the exit gas to the acceptable Standards stipulated by the Pollution Control Agencies. The selected Technology should comply all these aspects.
  
 Technical Data from  RD Department The data available from the records of past few  years regarding the Quantum and Quality of the Garbage is to be presented.
    Mass and Energy Balance  RD Department can initiate a preliminary Mass and Energy Balance to ascertain the Technical feasibility of the proposal based on the Annual average Calorific value and the quantum of the garbage. This data will be utilized for determining the Capacity of the Gasifier cum Power Plant
   
Out line of the Gasification cum Power Generation The essence of the process is to be given. The garbage is pre dried and fed to the Gasifier, ignited admitting controlled air to partially oxidize the carbonaceous material in the garbage and the ensuing reactions ends with the production of Producer Gas, which is a mixture of CO, H2, CH4, CO2 and the remaining is Nitrogen. The Producer gas is to be directly fed to the gas turbine which powers the Electric Generator.  
Design Basis This covers Capacities, Raw material Quantum and composition, Expected Power generation and the Specifications.    
Power and Utility Requirements. This data can be got from he venders of the Technology.   
Details of the project It should include Process description Garbage segregation techniques, and Flue gas Treatment

Specific consumptions of Power and Utilities can be got from vendors.
Location of the Project .
The location shall be identified keeping in mind the public sentiment. This project being waste treatment Plant, there will of necessity be some storage of the garbage which may be objected by the residents near by. So the location shall be away from the residential area. The location shall be conducive for the Plant in other respects like near by availability of Power and utilities.
Financial Feasibility .
   
Project Cost.  Budgetary offers shall be obtained from the prospective short listed Technology Suppliers for the capacity estimated by the RD Department. This will give the Installed cost of the Plant and Machinery . The cost of land and land development shall be assessed. With these Project cost can be estimated on an  Order of Magnitude  level to give an idea to the Management of cost involved .
   
Economics . Economics of the Proposal can be worked out with the following data Operating cost - costs of  energy, Labor, Utilities, Garbage transportation( differential cost between the existing and proposed systems), and Fixed Costs ( Interest , Depreciation, Insurance, Overheads and Administrative expenses) ,
